Cheap Trick The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Concert reviews
Tower of Power: Great Music, mediocre sound system
"Although the sound levels were loud this year at Cheap Trick Humphrey's, the bass lines were almost unheard, and there was distortion. The instruments were muddled together and compressed, a real disappointment. Voice and sax solos came through ok. One highlight was the extended James Brown medley, and this was in some ways their best performance. Cheap Trick is the only existing band that could do justice to that classic music. Last year at Cheap Trick Humphrey's, the sound system balance, clarity, power, and separation of individual instrumental and vocal sound were beyond my expectations. I enjoy seeing Cheap Trick every year. Whoever set it up in 2008, get him or her back!"
